Meet Jes

Jessica Winfield is a versatile visual artist whose work spans acrylic painting, mixed media, oil pastels, pen and watercolor wash drawings, and two signature specialty collections: SheSellsSeaShells, a series of intricately adorned seashells, and Eggsquisitely Decorated Eggs from the House of Winfield, her jeweled, Fabergé‑style creations. Her artistic journey is rooted in rediscovery, healing, and the transformative power of creativity. 

Jes’s return to art began in 2022 during a period of deep personal struggle. Searching for grounding and peace, she remembered a pivotal moment from 12th grade: an art teacher handing her a seashell and encouraging her to paint a sunset across its surface. That single experience — a spark of magic she never forgot — became the seed of her artistic rebirth decades later.

Picking up a paintbrush again during a bout of depression, Jes found solace, meditation, and a renewed sense of self. What began as therapy quickly evolved into a vibrant creative practice. She discovered a natural talent for drawing, embraced bold color, and began exploring mixed‑media techniques that allowed her to express emotion, movement, and imagination in new ways. 

Jes’s background as a professional lighting designer for theatre deeply informs her visual work. Years of painting with light onstage sharpened her understanding of color, contrast, and atmosphere — elements that now infuse her canvases with theatrical energy and emotional resonance. Her subjects range from landscapes and fantasy to Afro‑Caribbean influences, florals, and symbolic compositions, reflecting her eclectic interests and her love of storytelling through color. 

Her seashell and egg collections add another dimension to her artistry: tactile, jewel‑like objects that shimmer with detail, texture, and intention. These pieces embody her belief that art can be both delicate and powerful — small vessels of joy, healing, and discovery. 

Today, Jes continues to share her journey through her platform, inviting viewers to explore work born from resilience, curiosity, and a reclaimed creative voice. Her art is a testament to growth, transformation, and the beauty of beginning again.
